About Me

William Austin Lamon grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, where he currently resides. However, his professional and academic career have taken him to many places throughout the United States, Europe, and the Middle East. After being exposed to the epic poems of Homer at an early age, he developed a fascination with classical history. He was able to explore this passion later while completing degrees in political science, history, and international relations from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, and the American University in Cairo, Egypt. 

Over the course of his academic and professional career, he has had the opportunity to travel to Greece on several occasions, as well as many other parts of the Mediterranean that are relevant to this manuscript. Having studied the cultures and observed firsthand many of the ancient ruins and battlefields, his depth of knowledge and attention to detail provide the reader with a unique window into antiquity.
